BREWERTON, NY (WSYR-TV) - The 1st Annual Doris A. Connor Memorial Race/Walk for Brain Aneurysm Awareness was held on Sunday in Brewerton.

Organizers said 30
,000 Americans suffer a brain aneurysm rupture every year and 50% of those people die within 30 days.

The event was held in honor of Doris Connor, who died after a brain aneurysm. Her daughter told NewsChannel 9 that brain aneurysms can happen to anyone.

"My mother was young. She was 58 when she had the brain aneurysm. She was 59 by the time she passed. She was perfect health, no medication, walked, went to the gym every day,” said Hope Bednarski.

Funds raised from the run/walk will benefit the Brain Aneur
ysm Foundation
