Bridgeport (WSYR-TV) – A Bridgeport couple has been accused of illegally selling untaxed cigarettes.
On Wednesday, State Police arrested Linda R. Clarkson, 54, and Thomas J. Zawacki, 58. Both live at 7856 MacArthur Blvd.
Police say a month-long investigation found the couple was purchasing untaxed Native American brand cigarettes and reselling them for a profit without paying taxes.
When police searched the home, investigators say they seized approximately 116 cartons of untaxed cigarettes and approximately $27,000.
Clarkson and Zawacki were both charged with Possession or Sale of Unstamped Cigarettes, a felony, and Criminal Tax Fraud.
They are scheduled to appear in Cicero Town Court on November 13.
