A cold front has passed through central New York, although based on the Saturday evening temperatures you would hardly realize it. We’re slow to cool through the overnight. A few of our computer models are suggesting that with west/northwest air flowing over Lake Ontario, some could see lake enhanced snow showers tonight. However, this is looking increasingly unlikely. The air aloft just isn’t cool enough. At the most, expect some flakes with little to no accumulation.
High pressure sneaks in for Sunday morning and should dry us out enough to allow the sun to show its face. This will be short lived though, and by afternoon we’ll be turning our eyes to the south, anticipating the next approaching system. Clouds thicken Sunday afternoon as a warm front begins to move towards us. It’s possible we could have a brief rain/snow mix in the higher hills on Sunday evening, but this should quickly change over to all rain.
Winds pick up and temperatures rise as rain rolls through into Monday. The warmest time of Monday will be in the morning- around 50°. We’re expecting scattered rain with a brisk wind for much of the day. The warm front continues to lift, dragging a low pressure system and a trailing cold front behind it. That cold front passes late in the day Monday, and some rain could change over to a wintry mix. Temperatures plummet on Tuesday and we will fail to rise above the freezing mark.
After this period of unsettled weather, quiet high pressure builds in for the middle and end of the work week.
