Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Since the day he first arrived at Syracuse as a player, Doug Marrone has made his mark in football on the offensive side of the ball. As a coach, Marrone’s worked some pretty good quarterbacks, from future Hall of Famer Drew Brees, to SU’s all time passing leader Ryan Nassib.
Now, Marrone is making moves at the QB position with his new team the Buffalo Bills. On Tuesday, he announced Bills starter Ryan Fitzpatrick would be released after just four seasons.
Fitzpatrick was due a $3 million bonus this week if he remained on the roster.
Fitpatrick threw 64 interceptions in 55 games with the Bills. That leaves Buffalo with only Tarvaris Jackson on the roster as quarterback, meaning they’ll likely pursue a quarterback in the draft, which could be Marrone’s old college QB Ryan Nassib.
