Rochester (WSYR-TV/WROC) – A burglary suspect is under arrest in Rochester after being rescued from the Genesee River gorge.
Rochester Police responded to a residence at 2200 Dewey Ave. when a burglary was reported.
When police arrived, both suspects fled the scene
Police caught one of the suspects, while the other ran through a cemetery.
While they looked for the suspect who eluded them, police found footprints in the snow leading to the gorge.
With the help of fire personnel, the suspect was found 100 feet down within the gorge.
After fire crews rescued him, the suspect was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital to be treated for exposure.
Reports in Rochester news outlets declined to identify the suspects.
