Bus driver accused of sexually assaulting child
Utica (WSYR-TV) – A bus driver in Utica is under arrest after Sheriff’s Deputies say he sexually assaulted a child.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office has charged Birnie bus driver Abubakar Baharo with sexual abuse in the first degree.
The Sheriff's Office says there were two incidents in the same bus run and other children were on the bus at the time.
Birnie Bus is the company that’s contracted to the Utica City School District.
He was arraigned in Utica City Court and taken to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 bail.
The Sheriff’s Office says the victim is being counseled through the Child Advocacy Center.
