C-NS player named Naismith Girls Basketball Player of the Year

Cicero (WSYR-TV) – Cicero-North Syracuse senior Breanna Stewart has been named the 2012 Naismith High School Girls' Player of the Year by the Atlanta Tip-Off Club.

The UConn-bound senior helped guide the Northstars to their second Section III Class AA Championship on Friday. C-NS is the reigning New York State champion in Class AA.

Stewart became New York State’s all-time leading scorer during the 2011-2012 season.

Previously, she has been selected as a McDonald’s All-American and was named USA Basketball’s 2011 Athlete of the Year.

Shabazz Muhammad from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas was selected as boys’ player of the year.
