CBA among school districts dealing with unseasonable heat
DeWitt (WSYR-TV) - The extreme heat in Central New York is forcing school districts across the area to cancel athletic practices.
Other schools on Wednesday were doing their best to keep kids cool and focused.
Christian Brothers Academy’s students usually adhere to a strict dress code and wear pants and polo shirts. But on Wednesday, the administration allowed students to wear shorts and t-shirts to help deal with the heat.
“I’m much more comfortable today than I would be otherwise,” said senior Joey Stephens.
Most classrooms at CBA are not air conditioned. Staff members had fans going, the blinds down so the warm sunlight didn't come in and some teachers taught class with the lights off to keep the classrooms cool.
Liverpool, North Syracuse, and West Genesee were among the schools that canceled athletic practices because of heat.
