Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Long-time baseball coach Thomas Dotterer was back on the diamond at CBA Monday.
Dotterer, 77, was shot at his liquor store on North Salina Street back in January. Police say two armed men attacked and shot him. Dotterer lost his eye during the robbery, but he never lost his spirit. He was back at work within a week of the shooting and was back to coaching on the very first day of the season.
“He’s funny. He’s serious. He knows the game real well and he’s a good guy,” CBA baseball player Sam Little.
Earlier this month, Dotterer was admitted back to the hospital for emergency surgery. While there, he met his favorite wrestler CM Punk who paid him a visit to salute his courage and his strength.
