Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - The head of St. Joseph's hospital is stepping down at the end of the year.

Theodore Pasinski has been president and CEO at St. Joseph's since 1994, and he has worked at the hospital since 1974.

During Pasinski's tenure as CEO, the hospital was designated a Magnet Hospital for Excellence in Nursing and has been consistently ranked among the top 5 percent in the nation for overall cardiac care. He also acted as the chairperson for St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center Foundation, the charitable arm of the hospital.

The hospital board of trustees has begun searching for a successor and expects to have a recommendation later this year.
