Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A local veteran is being honored for his actions with multiple service medals, including a Purple Heart.

Fayetteville-Manlius graduate Seth Hudson served in the Army in both Iraq and Afghanistan. While serving in Afghanistan, Hudson and fellow officers came under fire and were hit by an IED explosion. Hudson maintained radio contact despite suffering injuries.

“I think he will wear that medal, view that medal as a reminder of the pride he takes in his country and what he was willing to do for his country and for the sacrifices that others have made as well,” said Seth’s mom Beth Hudson.

Some local politicians, including Ann Marie Buerkle were there to honor Hudson.
