New York Mills, Oneida County (WSYR-TV) - A central New York community is facing a hefty tax hike next year, possibly as much as 700 percent.

People who live in the Village of New York Mills within the Town of New Hartford are being asked to shoulder a greater burden of the cost for New Hartford town police.

Additionally, New Hartford town residents are looking at a 54-percent tax increase due to dwindling state dollars.

It all adds up to what could be a big financial blow for the 1,300 people who live there.
