Clay, NY (WSYR-TV) – There was a close call Tuesday morning for a group of elementary school students in Liverpool waiting for the school bus.

The children were on Hunting Creek Road, just off Morgan Road.  The school bus stopped and has its red flashing lights on, when four girls crossed the street to get on the bus, according to Liverpool Superintendent Dr. Richard Johns

A car rounded the corner, one of the girls saw the car and pulled one of her classmates back and the girl "bounced off" the vehicle, according to Johns.  The girl was not hurt.

Johns says it was a close call and that the driver of the car stopped for a moment then left the scene.

The school district is working with the sheriff's department on trying to identify the driver.
