Auburn (WSYR-TV) – A Conquest woman is in jail without bail on Monday morning after a shooting incident that took the life of her boyfriend Sunday evening.

According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to a 911 call that came in around 5:55 p.m. on Sunday from a residence on Egypt Road.

The caller said that he was involved in a verbal domestic dispute, but that his girlfriend had previously attacked him.

Shortly after that, at 6:12 p.m., Brenda Newkirk called 911 and said that she had shot her boyfriend, Henry Davis Jr.

When they arrived shortly before 6:30 p.m., they found Davis, 42, dead.

They arrested Newkirk, 40, and charged her with second degree murder.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Davis made the initial call to 911. He was reporting a domestic violence incident.

They say the couple did not have a history of domestic violence.
