Cazenovia (WSYR-TV) – A Cazenovia funeral home director was sentenced on Thursday
after pleading guilty to sex abuse charges.
Brian Tait will spend three years on probation for subjecting women to what police described as inappropriate physical exams in which he told at least one woman that she would need to take their clothes off so he could make sure she wasn’t allergic to formaldehyde.
At Tait's sentencing on Thursday, a victim told about how she was victimized. She says Tait plotted and planned the abuse. She said Tait had told her that she "fit the mold" and believes she was targeted to be a victim. She also asked the judge for a harsher punishment including having Tait register as a sex offender. The judge explained that was out of the legal scope because Tait pleaded guilty to misdeameanor charges.
If Tait had declined to accept the plea deal, his case could have gone to trial. Had he been convicted, he could have been sentenced to the maximum of two years in jail.
