Oswego (WSYR-TV) – A Central Square woman was arrested on Friday for allegedly pretending she was pregnant with a married man’s child and demanding $5,000 from his wife to pay for an abortion.

According to the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department investigation, Kimberley Payment had the affair with the man in 2008. After the man broke it off, she sent a text message to his wife in the town of Hastings demanding the money.

Their investigation discovered that Payment was unable to have a child.  She had had a medical procedure to prevent pregnancy 10 years earlier.

Payment, of 856 US Route 11, Lot 146, was charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony.

She was arraigned in Town of Scriba Court and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to return to Town of Hastings Court on Nov. 16.

Anyone with more information that could help the investigation is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (315) 349-3411.
