Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - During a Monday evening hearing in Clinton Square, the public had the opportunity to share opinions on the design of Centro's new downtown transfer hub.

The population of riders has outgrown the current hub at Fayette and Salina streets. The new one will be at the old American Red Cross site where Adams, Salina and Warren streets meet. Riders will no longer have to cross streets to change buses. "An opportunity to do so in a sheltered, controlled environment where you don't have to walk across one or sometimes two busy streets from one bus to another," said Centro Executive Director Frank Kobliski.

The design is 60 percent complete. Construction is expected to be done in 2011.
