Chittenango (WSYR-TV) – More than a month after Police Chief Jeffrey Paul resigned
amidst a Madison County Sheriff’s Office investigation, the Village of Chittenango has appointed a new chief.
On Tuesday, the village board approved retired police officer Fred Corey as its new top cop.
Corey has 24 years of experience in law enforcement in both the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Clay Police Department.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Paul was submitting time sheets covering overlapping periods, claiming he was working for both the Sheriff’s Office and the police department, while working at his personal funeral home business.
In March, Paul resigned as police chief. He was also no long a member of the Sheriff’s Office.
