Chittenango considers closing elementary school
Chittenango (WSYR-TV) -- The Chittenango School District is considering closing one of its elementary schools due to rising costs and a shrinking student population.
A study shows shuffling students around won’t save money, but shutting down an elementary school will.
“We want to keep collecting community feedback and disseminate information and try to make the most educational decision that is the least disruptive to parents and the school community,” said District Superintendent Michael Scheido.
The board will make a decision in the spring.
The district has not said which elementary school would be affected if the proposal is approved.
