Cicero (WSYR-TV) -- Thieves may be getting away with more than just cash from your car.
Cicero Police are putting you “On the Lookout” as thefts from vehicles are starting to pick up again.
With your registration in the glove box, a GPS device on your windshield and perhaps you’re your garage door opener on the visor, you’re making it easy for a thief to break into your house without breaking a sweat.
“You've got your home programmed into your GPS unit, they dial it up, see your address and once they get your address, with the garage door opener, they can open up your door,” explained Cicero Police Investigator Jim Meyers.
Cicero Police suggest keeping your registration and your insurance cards in your wallet and make a copy for any family members who also drive.
