Utica (WSYR-TV) – Closing arguments will begin Tuesday in the case of an Oneida County man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend’s daughter.

Both the defense and prosecution have rested in the case against 30-year-old David Trebilcock.  He’s charged with stabbing to death 6-year-old Lauren Belius in July 2011.

The defense has maintained that Trebilcock shows signs of paranoid schizophrenia. In Oneida County Court on Friday, a doctor took the stand to discuss that diagnosis.

Trebilcock waived his right to a jury trial, so the judge will determine his fate. If found guilty, he faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
