Colorado shooting victim with ties to CNY meets with NYC mayor
NEW YORK (AP) - A 22-year-old wounded in the mass shooting at a Colorado movie theater says he hopes both presidential candidates will support background checks for every gun owner in their first debate.
Stephen Barton -- a 2012 Syracuse University graduate -- spoke Wednesday on the steps of New York City Hall after meeting with Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Barton now works in policy research and victims outreach for Bloomberg's organization, Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
Barton is already appearing in an ad for the organization. In the TV spot, he urges people to ask themselves during the debates which candidate has a plan to stop gun violence.
