Marcellus (WSYR-TV) - Judy Aguirre, a mother of two young boys, fell in her Baldwinsville home last September and suffered a broken neck, which left her paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. In a community-wide effort to help the Aguirre family, several local companies have donated supplies and employees of McClurg Remodeling & Construction Services have volunteered to construct a wheelchair accessible deck at her home. The project started on Wednesday and the community can follow its progress on Facebook and Twitter.

"Our family is enormously grateful to so many people and companies in our community who are helping my sister and her family during this very challenging time," said Jennifer Harte, Judy's sister. "The deck will enable Judy to spend time with her boys and family in the yard she has always cherished. She is very strong willed and determined to recover from her injuries and remain an active mother."

Judy's life changed dramatically after the accident. For three weeks she was in intensive care and she spent another 10 weeks in rehabilitation. While medical expenses were covered by insurance, rehabilitation services, adaptive equipment, and home conversion expenses were not. Anyone interested in helping the family can contact Jennifer Harte at (315) 254-9171.
