Cooper heads to Tampa Bay; Zettler promoted to Crunch head coach
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Having guided the Syracuse Crunch to the best record in the American Hockey League, Jon Cooper is headed to Tampa Bay.
The Lightning named Cooper their new head coach on Monday.
Rob Zettler will replace Cooper in Syracuse.
In addition, Martin Raymond will join the Crunch coaching staff.
Cooper is the reigning AHL Coach of the Year. He is replacing Guy Boucher, who was fired over the weekend.
Cooper led Norfolk to the Calder Cup title last season.
The Crunch have 86 points on the season and a 39-18-3-5 record.
Cooper’s first game with Tampa Bay will be Friday night when they play the New Jersey Devils.
