Deer Park, Texas (WSYR-TV/CNN) – A Texas police officer was suspended after his colleagues caught him stealing their lunches.
About one year ago, police planted a security camera in their break room after numerous complaints of food being stolen from the refrigerator.
According to police, Officer Kevin Yang was captured on tape removing a container of Monster Energy drink with the initials “MSA” written on it on Nov. 19.
On Nov. 22, police say Yang took a bag from a local sandwich shop without initials and then, on Nov. 26, he was seen taking another energy drink from the refrigerator.
Police questioned Yang on Nov. 27 after three weeks of surveillance. He told police that he had taken it upon himself to clean out the refrigerator.
He was placed on 30 days unpaid suspension and charged with misdemeanor theft. He will be reinstated on March 22 even if he is convicted of the misdemeanor crime.
