Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - An Onondaga County Grand Jury reviewed the case of an officer-involved shooting from December and cleared the Syracuse Police officer of any wrongdoing.

The Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office released the grand jury’s decision regarding Police Officer Scott Henderson’s shooting of Adam Goodman on Grace Street.

Police responded to the residence at 216 Grace St. around 6 p.m. The residents told them they heard someone trying to break in through their backdoor. Henderson went to the backyard and tried to go up the back steps to a second-floor deck when someone warned him not to continue.

Henderson pointed his gun in the direction of the voice and order him to show his hands. The person – Goodman – refused to comply, telling the officer he would shoot and kill him with his gun.

During the incident, Goodman displayed and fired what appeared to be a handgun. The pair exchanged shots and a standoff that lasted approximately two hours and 20 minutes ensued. It ended when Goodman stopped responding to officers and they moved the apparent firearm away from him using a pole. He was pronounced dead at 8:54 p.m.
Police eventually discovered that Goodman had been wielding a BB gun that looked like a real weapon.

An autopsy revealed that Goodman had cocaine, cocaine metabolite, and morphine in his system at the time of his death.
