Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A detective is fine after being struck by a car during a footchase near the intersection of Ridgeway Avenue and Beattie Street on Tuesday, according to the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office.

The incident began when deputies tried to stop what they believed was a suspect’s vehicle at the intersection of Erie Boulevard and Midler Avenue, according to the sheriff's office.

The suspect drove off, with the deputies in pursuit.

The suspect left his car and began running toward Beattie when the deputy ran after him, according to the Sheriff's Office.

They say the officer ran into another investigator's vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office says the deputy was only brushed by the other vehicle.

The suspect was caught, but investigators have not been identified or revealed what he's been charged with.

The deputy was taken to Upstate University Hospital, but he did not suffer any significant injuries, according to the Sheriff's Office.
