Cops: Man had child accuse father of sex abuse

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – An Oneida County man is facing charges after investigators say he removed a young girl from her mother’s funeral so that she could make misleading accusations to child advocates that her biological father had sexually abused her.

According to police, Francis Bielby of Remsen was seeking to retain custody of the 10-year-old child after her mother’s death when he brought her to the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.

He has been charged with falsely reporting an incident and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was arraigned in the city of Utica and taken to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
