Cops: Suspect attacked 59-year-old woman during Oswego liquor store robbery

Oswego (WSYR-TV) – An Oswego man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly assaulting a 59-year-old woman during a liquor store robbery.

According to police, James Shipley, 21, of 207 W. Fifth St., Apt. 1, Oswego, tried to steal liquor from Paura’s Liquors on West Bridge Street.

When he tried to run away, police say he forced a woman to the ground and struck her.

She was injured, but police do not believe her injuries were life threatening.

Police responded to the incident at 7:06 p.m.

They charged Shipley with robbery in the second degree, a felony, and assault in the third degree, a violation.

He was taken to the Oswego City Police Department to await arraignment.
