Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse Police are looking for three suspects who they say assaulted a 68-year-old man with his own golf clubs at the Burnet Park course on Friday afternoon.

According to police, the victim was golfing alone when three people described as teenage black males approached him asking to use his cell phone around 2:55 p.m.

Police say that when the victim told them he didn’t have a cell phone, a suspect tried to rob him using a box cutter.

When the victim resisted, police say he was beaten with his own golf clubs.

The man was transported to Upstate University Hospital. Police do not believe his injuries are life threatening.

Police say the suspects ran toward Grand Avenue. They have not arrested anyone yet.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Syracuse Police at 442-5222.
