Ithaca (WSYR-TV) – Cornell University Police have charged a homeless man in connection to three dead cats who were found in a gorge with ropes around their necks.
They charged 22-year-old Mitchell Medina with three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, a felony.
They arrested Medina at the Tompkins County jail, where he is being held on charges from the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office that include menacing, harassment, and burglary in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
The cats were found on Aug. 5 around 9:07 a.m. in the Cascadilla Gorge.
Medina is scheduled to appear in court on the animal cruelty charges on Oct. 4.
He is scheduled to answer to the burglary, menacing, and harassment charges on Feb. 11, 2014.
