Cortland reexamines rules regarding adult businesses
Cortland (WSYR-TV) - The City of Cortland is trying to tighten up its laws regarding adult entertainment businesses.
The push for tighter laws comes after a new shop recently opened up downtown called Tikki's Boutique. It sells lingerie as well as some adult videos and other items.
The common council initially wanted a moratorium on adult businesses until they could come up with new laws, but City Corporation Counsel Ron Walsh is now recommending they look at what's already on the books. "I think we just need to sort of expand some of the definitions so we know precisely what it is we're regulating, and take a look at the areas in which that activity is permitted to take place."
The boutique downtown has told the city it will keep window dressings tasteful and cordon off the area of the store where "adult" items are kept.
