Court upholds life sentences for men involved in New Hartford cop killing
New York City (WSYR-TV) – The fates of three jewelry-store robbers convicted in an incident that led to the killing of a New Hartford Police officer may have been sealed.
The co-defendants - Robert Ward, Marion Pegese, and Toussaint Davis – appealed the decision of a jury that convicted them on charges including murder and robbery.
The Second Circuit US Court of Appeals released its decision on the appeal of the three men on Tuesday morning.
New Hartford Police Officer Joseph Corr was shot and killed by Walter Richardson when he responded to a jewelry store robbery.
Richardson hijacked a truck at gunpoint and was killed by law enforcement agents the next day in Chester, Pennsylvania.
The three other men were arrested.
According to the document, the court rejects all arguments and upholds the guilty verdicts and life sentences of the three men.
