Crash kills man who stopped to help driver on the side of the road
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A Fabius man is dead after a collision on Route 690 eastbound near Teall Avenue in Syracuse.
Syracuse Police said around 4:00 Sunday morning, 27-year-old Ryan Dearnaley of Fabius stopped to help the driver of vehicle that had broken down.
Dearnaley and the driver were standing outside their cars when Dearnaley's car was hit by another vehicle.
Dearnaley's car then slammed into the vehicle that was broken down. Dearnaley and the other two drivers were taken to Upstate University Hospital.
Dearnaley later died from his injuries. The other drivers sustained non life-threatening injuries.
No tickets have been issued. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
