Clay (WSYR-TV) - Roughly 600 National Grid customers woke up without power on Sunday morning, due to a problem with an underground cable.
A spokesperson for the utility said the outage began on Saturday night around 11:30 p.m., affecting 1,156 customers in the Clay area.
Crews were able to restore power to half of the homes affected by switching them to alternate lines as they attempted to isolate the problem.
The outages appear to be located in the Cherry Heights area.
As of 10:35 p.m., about 200 people were still in the dark. A National Grid spokesperson told NewsChannel 9 that power is expected to be restored by the end of Sunday night.
Crews are testing cables and replacing the switch gear that provides power to that area.
