Crouse Hospital celebrates miracle babies at NICU reunion
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Crouse Hospital held it's 34th Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Graduates Reunion, Sunday.
The event celebrates children who have defied the odds after dangerous complications at birth.
Former patients of all ages got the chance to reunite with the staff who nursed them to health after birth.
"The babies could have been very premature," said Steven Gross, MD - Medical Director of NICU at Crouse. "We're the only regional center for 15 counties...so its very nice for them to come back and for us to see the babies."
The NICU at Crouse makes about 900 of those miracles possible each year. That's how many premature or critically ill newborns and infants get treatment in the unit on an annual basis.
