Cruise ship that killed 32 off coast of Italy being salvaged
Giglio, Italy (WSYR-TV) - Crews are raising the disabled cruise ship that ran aground off the coast of Italy last year killing 32 people.
500 engineers are working to raise the Costa Concordia that has been stuck in the position since it crashed in January of 2012.
Hydraulic jacks and cables placed underneath the cruise ship will help maneuver it onto underwater, steel platforms.
The captain, who's accused of guiding the ocean liner off course, faces manslaughter charges and is accused of abandoning the ship with passengers still on board.
His trial is slated to resume Monday, September 23.
