Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The Syracuse Crunch are preparing for a special home opener tomorrow night at the War Memorial.
A few months removed from the team’s first Calder Cup finals appearance, the Crunch will begin its celebration of two decades of hockey in the Salt City tomorrow night.
Syracuse dropped its season opener, falling 4-3 to the Binghamton Senators in overtime in Binghamton.
Dana Tyrell scored twice and Cedrick Desjardins had 25 saves in the loss to the BSens.
Rochester lost its season opener 8-1 to Grand Rapids – which beat Syracuse in the 2013 Calder Cup finals.
The Americans play the Utica Comets tonight at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester.
Saturday night’s game against Syracuse’s I-90 rival begins at 7 p.m.
The Crunch will play again Sunday night when the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins visit the War Memorial. For that game, the puck drops at 5 p.m.
