Cuomo visits the State Fair after greeting President Obama in Buffalo
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A familiar face was missing as the State Fair kicked off Thursday morning.
Governor Cuomo greeted President Obama in Buffalo during the president’s Upstate New York bus tour Thursday morning before taking the Thruway to Syracuse to make an appearance at the fairgrounds.
Opening day of the fair is typically known as Governor’s Day, but Lieutenant Governor Robert Duffy handled the ribbon cutting duties Thursday morning in Cuomo’s absence.
Cuomo made his way to the fair at about 2 p.m. on Thursday, and one of his first stops was to pay tribute to the 9/11 memorial alongside his daughters.
