Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse is expecting a substantial turnout for its first “Cuse Mob” event.

The phenomenon, which has had success in cities such as Buffalo and Cleveland, is aimed at supporting local businesses with an infusion of local cash.

Syracuse First and CenterState CEO are presenting the event in which local businesses are “mobbed” by customers who are asked to spend a pre-determined amount of money in a given shop.

“This is a fun opportunity for people to actually actualize what the ‘Think Local, Buy Local’ movement is about,” said Syracuse First Executive Director, Chris Fowler.

On Saturday, the mob will visit Craft Chemistry on North Salina Street at noon.

The Cuse Mob after-party will be held at Sparky Town, located at 324 Burnet Ave. in Syracuse. It will immediately follow the mob and end at 3 p.m.
