Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A Cicero man accused of murdering a school librarian and sexually assaulting a child was arraigned on a 37-count indictment on Friday morning.
David Renz, 29, of Lakeshore Road, entered a not guilty plea.
On Wednesday, the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office announced that it had indicted Renz on charges including murder, kidnapping, weapons possession, and numerous criminal sex charges.
He has also been indicted on Federal child pornography charges.
Renz was arrested on March 14 after Liverpool school district librarian Lori Bresnahan was found with multiple stab wounds on Verplank Road. She died of her injuries at Upstate University Hospital.
A 10-year-old child was found by a passerby. The DA’s office has declined to identify the child, referring to her only as “Jane Doe.”
Authorities say Renz sexually assaulted the child.
Investigators say Renz neutralized a monitoring bracelet he was wearing as part of his pre-trial agreement in the child pornography case before he attacked Bresnahan and the child.
Onondaga County District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick vowed on Wednesday that prosecutors would seek a sentence of life without the possibility of parole in the case of Renz.
