DeWitt (WSYR-TV) – DeWitt Police responded to a bank robbery at a KeyBank location on Tecumseh Road Wednesday around 9:50 a.m.
According to police, the suspect displayed what appeared to be a black handgun after he entered the bank.
Police were on the scene fewer than 30 seconds after an alarm alerted them, however the suspect had fled. They say he threatened a customer with the weapon and then retreated behind the Nottingham Plaza.
According to witnesses, the suspect is a light-skinned black male or white male, approximately 6-foot-2 or 6-3, with a lean and athletic build.
During the incident, surveillance images show the suspect wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt with the words "Syracuse Alumni" across the chest area. Witnesses say he was wearing gray sweatpants and black sneakers during the incident.
Police believe the suspect fled through a hole in fencing at nearby Maplewood Apartments.
