Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A foreign-born defense attorney has agreed to give up his law license and leave the country after pleading guilty to bribing a witness in a murder case.
Attorney Ezequiel Neuman of DeWitt pleaded guilty in Onondaga County Court on Wednesday morning, according to his lawyer, Edward Menkin.
Authorities say Neuman offered a witness $50,000 in exchange for not working with prosecutors in the case of a man accused of murdering a victim at a gas station on South Geddes Street two years ago.
Neuman, who was born outside the country, agreed to leave the U.S. within a month of his sentencing to three years conditional discharge. Additionally, forfeiting a law license is required when pleading guilty to a felony.
Sentencing is scheduled for January 24.
