Lodi (WSYR-TV) - The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office says that two people have been arrested after the led police on a chase with a 6-year-old in the back-seat of their car.
Deputies say they responded to a tip that a suspect with warrants was present at 9715 Case Rd. in Lodi at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
Officials say a car fled the residence, leading deputies on a chase.
Deputies say they pursued the vehicle heading northbound on Route 89 for several minutes and used “Stop Sticks” to flatten the tires.
The vehicle came to a stop Route 89 and Noble Road in the town of Seneca Falls and a man fled the scene into a heavily wooded area according to deputies.
Deputies, along with Seneca Falls Police, State Police and State Park Police searched th4 area for approximately three hours, but were unable to locate the suspect.
The driver, 46-year-old Sharon Sponaugle 9715 Case Road was taken into custody at the scene.
Deputies say a 6-year-old girl who was a family member of Sponaugle was in the vehicle as well.
Officials report that no one was injured, and no vehicles were damaged during the incident.
The man Deputies say fled the scene, 46-year-old Brian Ellis, was located at about noon on Thursday, Oct. 24 in a wooded area across from the Five Points Prison on Route 96 in Romulus.
Ellis was arrested on warrants from the Town of Lodi Court, including Criminal Contempt in the 2nd Degree, and Aggravated Harassment in the 2nd Degree.
Deputies allege that Ellis repeatedly harassed a Lodi resident and violated an Order of Protection as well.
Ellis was arraigned in the Town of Lodi Court and remanded to jail on two separate commitments of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bail bond each.
Ellis was also charged with another count of Criminal Contempt in the 2nd Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in the 3rd Degree.
He will appear in the Town of Lodi Court on Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. to answer for all the charges.
Sponaugle was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in the 3rd Degree.
She was released and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Lodi Court on Dec. 4 at 10 a.m.
