Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The Syracuse Industrial Development Agency decided Monday that Destiny USA will stay off of the city of Syracuse’s tax rolls for at least another six months.

In return, the developers behind the controversial mall expansion project will pay the city a total of $1.5 million in three installments. They will pay the city $500,000 on Tuesday; $500,000 within 30 days; and $500,000 within the next 30 days following the second payment.

Six months ago, Destiny USA was granted a six-month stay from having to pay taxes to the city. At that time, the developers paid $1 million.

According to initial plans, Destiny was scheduled to have completed phase one of its expansion project by this week and have phase two underway.
