SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - Saint John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church held a Divine Healing Liturgy on Saturday with the relic of Saint Marianne Cope, who was canonized at the Vatican last October.
St. Marianne Cope was best known for her efforts to heal those in need, especially during her time in Hawaii.
"Where there was so much suffering and so much disfiguration caused by that disease that they had no cure for, that they knew as leprosy, that we know as Hansen’s disease, she embraced them. She loved them. She cared for them and she did all she could to make life better for them,” said Sister Grace Dillenschneider.
The Divine Healing Liturgy is part of Saint John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church’s 100-year Anniversary celebration.
