Ithaca (WSYR-TV) – Emergency crews and a dog teamed up to find an elderly woman who had slipped and injured herself in a forested area in the town of Ithaca Sunday night.
According to the Ithaca Fire Department, the woman was walking a neighbor’s dog when she fell and injured her hip.
The woman could not get up, so she called 911 from a location approximately 150 yards into the woods.
Tompkins County dispatchers located the woman using her cellphone’s GPS.
When emergency crews arrived, they could not find the woman’s precise location, however, they were greeted by the dog she had been walking.
According to the fire department, the dog led them to her location.
The woman was taken to the Cayuga Medical Center for treatment.
