Syracuse (WSYR-TV/ABC News) – The Dow Jones industrial average hit a record high on Tuesday morning, rising 92 points to 14,221.
The previous record high was 14,164, which was set in Oct. 9, 2007.
ABC News noted that the new record represents a benchmark in Wall Street’s recovery from the 2008 financial meltdown.
An index of 30 of the largest US companies, the Dow is a widely-watched indicator of the stock market.
The Dow has more than doubled from its low in 2009 following the government bailout of multiple major banks.
