Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – With an increase in demand for places to live in downtown Syracuse, there has been an increase in construction recently. This weekend you can see it all for yourself during the Downtown Living Tour.
This will be the seventh year of the self-guided tour that allows people to check out new construction.
Most of the stops on the tour are modern and luxury apartments targeting working professionals.
The tour will include old downtown buildings that once sat empty and have been transformed into living spaces.
Over the last ten years, the city has seen a 25 percent increase in living space.
Right now, the demand for a place to live downtown is high, and the downtown committee says there is a 99 percent occupancy rate, with wait lists.
Some of the apartments that are part of the tour are still under construction but are available for rent.
The new Marriott hotel set to open in Armory Square this summer will also be part of the tour.
The Downtown Living Tour runs from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday. You can no longer buy advanced sale tickets, but they're available for $15 on the day of the tour at the Pike Block building. You can get more information on the event’s website.
