LaFayette (WSYR-TV) - One person was taken to the hospital late last night after their car hit a utility pole.

State Police say 50-year-old Sheila Ganey of Onondaga was charged with DWI and several traffic violations in connection to the crash.

It happened about 11:55 p.m. Friday on Route 11 in LaFayette.

Police say Ganey fell asleep at the wheel, crossed the center line and hit a utility pole across the street from the State Police barracks in Lafayette.

Ganey was transported to Upstate University hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The power was knocked out in the area for about an hour while National Grid crews repaired the pole.

Ganey is scheduled to appear in Town of Lafayette Court at a later date.
